In 1987 the tired worn out, four level school house sat abandoned amongst the corn & soy bean fields.  Along came two visionary/creative teachers who saw possibilities!  

To establish an art center in rural Minnesota whose focus is on the visual arts with an emphasis on providing gallery & studio work space with educational opportunities primarily for area teens while embracing all Greater Minnesota Communities.                            

The Svea Schoolhouse will celebrate continued education & diversity by bringing in visitings artists to share their art knowledge & abilities.  It will also provide an avenue for its participants; students, adults & teachers alike to share their work with the community.  Through the arts, business awareness & skills will be developed & practiced by youth, with supportive guidance from teachers & other professionals.

To  preserve & renovate a National Historic building.
